Storm Damage Roof Repair in Littleton
We are Mountain Range Roofing, and we repair storm damage on homes and businesses, residential and commercial roofs alike, in Littleton and the towns around it.
After a hail or wind storm, the first question is usually whether the roof took damage at all. Shingles in the yard or a dented gutter make it obvious; a bruised shingle or a loosened seal does not. We go up, look at every slope, and tell you plainly what the storm did and what it did not.
Then you get one price for the whole repair before any work starts, so you know where you stand before you decide anything.
Mon–Sat, 7 am to 6 pm. After hours, we call back the next working morning.

After hail and wind
What Hail and Wind Do to a Roof
Hail dents and bruises shingles, wind lifts whole courses and blows out soffits, and branches and debris crack tile and tear up flashing, and most of it is not visible from the ground.
Lifted and missing tabs
The damage a storm leaves
- Hail bruises
A bruised shingle can still lie flat and look whole while the roofing under it is weakened.
- Lifted shingles
Wind gets under a course and breaks the "sealant bond" that holds the tabs down, so they keep lifting in every gust after.
- Cracked tile
A falling branch can go past the tile and puncture the roofing beneath it.
- Damaged flashing
The same debris bends the "flashing" at chimneys, valleys and walls, the metal where most leaks start.
- Blown-out soffits
A soffit blown out at the eave lets the attic pressurize from underneath.
Until the repair: "tarping" covers an open spot as temporary storm protection, so the next rain stays outside while the permanent fix is planned.
Insurance
Documenting Damage for an Insurance Claim
Insurance usually covers damage from a storm or other sudden event but not a roof's normal wear, the insurer decides coverage and payment, and a useful report keeps the storm's damage apart from the wear that was already there.
A report that shows each storm mark slope by slope, and names the older wear for what it is, gives the insurer a clear picture to decide on.
The roofer's part is the evidence. Across the trade, damage inspectors hold HAAG wind certification, infrared thermography certification and ICC national standard roofing contractor credentials.
Storm or wear
What a Useful Report Separates
Two lists, kept apart, for every slope of the roof.
From the storm
- Hail bruises and dented metal
- Lifted or missing shingles
- Cracked tile, bent flashing
- A blown-out soffit
Already there
- "Granule loss", the bald spots
- A split "pipe boot" collar
- Worn ridge cap at the peak
- Rotted fascia behind gutters

The repair
Repairing Shingles for Wind and Hail
Wind-resistant shingle repairs in the trade use Class H shingles, a factory-sealed starter strip, hemmed drip edge and ring-shank nails, with the tightest fastening at the corners, which take the most uplift.
- Underlayment
Self-adhered modified bitumen "underlayment" goes down first, the waterproof layer under the shingles.
- Drip edge
The "drip edge" sits on a continuous cleat along the eaves and rakes.
- Starter strip
The "starter strip" makes the first course, the row that resists wind lift at the edges.
- Class H shingles
New shingles are laid in to match the courses around them.
- Ring-shank nails
Corners can see two to three times the uplift of the field, so they get the tightest fastening schedule.
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) publishes the asphalt shingle installation techniques and recommended practices this work follows.
What it costs

The exact figure comes from the free estimate, once we have been on the roof and seen what the storm did.

- Course-level fix
A broken seal or a few displaced tabs is the small end of what a repair runs.
- Detail rebuild
A failed boot, a bad valley or an open "counterflashing" is rebuilt, a larger job.
- The roof itself
Roof size, pitch, the number of stories, the materials and any damage found underneath all move the price.
- When it gets fixed
Fixing a problem now is usually cheaper than fixing it after the next storm.
Google review
After the Hail
A homeowner left this on Google after we repaired a roof following a hail storm. It is the one review we have to show, so here it is in full.
Upstanding citizen and did an excellent job repairing my roof after the recent hail storm. Dave is a great guy and got my roof done in a timely manner and I couldn’t be happier!
Storm came through? Call before the next one.
Tell us when it hit and what you can see from the ground: shingles in the yard, dents in the gutters, a stain on a ceiling. We take it from there.
We answer the phone or call back the same working day, and we show up when we say we will.
